Actually I am working as an English professor at UNE in Utuado and Barceloneta. UNE forms part of Ana G. Mendez universities. The university is providing its professors with lots of workshops on technology like: how to have a blogpage, how to use the movie maker program and other programs. I beleive that by providing our students with the opportunity of using technology as part of their courses would prepare them to compete in today's world. It is my wish that my students learn new things and this is why I am applying technological resources in my classes.
UNE in Utuado is offering a course in the history of Utuado. This course began on March 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon. There are about 30 people taking the course, including my wife and I. Mr. Sixto Bermudez, the UNE director is interested in providing our students community and grownups with a variety of activities. The University of the East is becoming one of the best universities of Ana G. Mendez group.

My Little Farm
One of my dreams in life has been to become a part-time farmer. I wanted to have a vegetable garden (huerto casero) where I could have different types of vegetables. This semester I started working on my garden and it has been an enriching experience. Actually I have egg plants, tomatoes, pepper, wild marjoram, and coriander. I have also planted white and pink beans. Besides my vegetable garden, I have planted different types of groceries like "chayotes, name and yautias". I also have plaintains. Thanks to God, my plants are growing very well. I hope to have enough food from my plants in the near future.
With the lack of food in our world, we need to become farmers and plant the earth. The earth produces when you give it a good care. Having a vegetable garden is like having a treasure. I invite you to start yours. You will never regret it.

Talking About God
[slideshow id=1297036692710014134&w=426&h=320]
Actually I'm taking a religion course that is preparing me to learn more about the word of God and to understand the message that God is giving us to evangelize our world. This course is called Growing in Faith. Our teacher is Mercedes Cardona who is a very prepared lady and who is interested in transmiting us the message of God. There are about 15 students in the course and we have a great interest in learning and discussing the issues of faith which are very important to be considered competent in the world of God. My wife is also taking the course with me. Through this slide show, you can have an idea of the people who are taking this course.

Experiences with a Weblog
Students from the English 115 course at UNE in Barceloneta are working on a weblog. They were oriented by our librarian Rosa Fontan. The weblog is a technological instrument that students can use to prepare their portfolio by including a presentation letter, reflexive diary, personal experiences, hobbies, etc. It provides students with the opportunity of expressing their opinions about different subjects. It is a new experience for our students and I hope that they take the most out of this experience.
In the month of March, Professor Laura Diaz and Miguel Gonzalez are planning to exhibit these blogs so that other students will be motivated to produced their own blogs.
